Picked them up at an auto show for $15! The Michigan is from 1968 (and there were two!) and the New York is from 1973. I have a small collection on my wall and want to get more. Anyone have any they'd be willing to sell or know of places? Thanks!

Flea markets. And most antique stores will have a solidly sized pile of them. I have a few, a 1963 Michigan plate and a 1938 Illinois plate.

My dad kept his Michigan USA Bicentennial plate, red white, blue, and BADASS.

It's in the garage.

Neat! Always a neat thing to collect. I have USA plates for use in Europe. But no Vintage plates.

One of my favorites is the St. Thomas US Virgin Islands plate my dad gave me. He lived there for years.

i have got some from local CL, but eBay is a good source if the bidding or start price isn't outrageous.

In MO, you are allowed plates from the year of the car for historic use. When my 84 gti is up & running I'll register it as historic (over 25) and use plates from 1984. White & red.

It does. Never gonna sell it. That'd be like selling Grandpa's old WWII rifles and all the stuff he took off dead krauts. Or the family China.

Do you live in europe? Is there a market for US style plates, similar to the desire for Euro plates here in the states?

>I have a dozen PA plates I wouldn't mind parting with

No My Dad was stationed in Germany (To fight the Soviets which obviously never happened). So we had Plates for our cars that said USA on them. Weird thing is they are normal (US) shape rather than the wide Euro plate. It probably made them stand out (besides the fact my dad had to be in his dress uniform and the fact they were in a yellow M-B) when my parents got to visit East Germany and East Berlin.

Weird. I saw foreign service plates (or whatever) on a Jeep Patriot (maximum LOL) on the PA turnpike once.

Those classic NJ plates must be awesome! The oldest NJ one I have is right when they switched to the horrid yellow ones. Haha

I recently found out that there are more people like me (us). https://www.alpca.org/ And I wouldn't trade my (small) collection for anything short of... well, I'm having trouble coming up with a way to finish this sentence. So, I like my collection.

OH BUDDY.

I love old plates, at my next house I'm putting all I've collected up on the wall in the garage. I want a 68 plate for my Montego but... that green and yellow really would crush the vibe of the red with black thing I have going on.

I wish the black with white lettering was 68

I have a bunch of modern ones (last few years), from a few states that came off my family's cars, nothing too exciting though - Texas and Florida I think. If you want them, I'll send them to you.

Also I've found that eBay has a good selection of relatively cheap vintage plates. Did you know as Florida residents we can activate vintage plates from the year of your vintage car as long as they were never in the system. So if you have a '71 Ford you can have period correct 1971 plates on it. Pretty cool.

I dont have any Texas plates, but I have a good amount of Florida!

And that is really cool to know, may have to do that down the road when I get my older car.
